ZipBooks Invoices Now Integrate with PayPal

At ZipBooks, we want to help you get paid faster. Our Stripe and WePay integrations have helped a lot of our users do just that, but we are always looking to make your lives even easier.

We’ve been listening to you and heard that some of your clients use PayPal and don’t want to change the way they make payments. We also know that not all of our international users can process online payments given our current options.

We never want to get between you and your clients and we also want to give ALL of our users a better payment experience. So we are ready to announce that ZipBooks now supports PayPal payments!

How does the PayPal integration work?

To get started, go to your payments integration settings page and enter your email address associated with your PayPal account. Once you have your PayPal email address saved, you will see a new Accept PayPal check box show up at the bottom of new invoices. This check box is an addition to the Accept credit cards check box that shows up for Stripe or WePay integrations.

What does the PayPal integration look like on an invoice?

When you enable the PayPal integration, a new box will appear in the invoice sidebar. We wish that we could make it work inside the form like our other partners, but PayPal doesn’t support this option.

Customers can click on the PayPal button to make a payment. The payment will go directly into your PayPal account. Two line items will show up in your PayPal account, the payment (minus the fee charged by PayPal) and a charge from ZipBooks.

What does it cost?

We&rqsuo;re able to provide a world-class free accounting software program without a monthly subscription because we negotiate lower buy rates with credit card partners based on the aggregate processing volume that goes through our system, but PayPal doesn’t offer this option.

We figured out a work-around. ZipBooks charges a 0.5% fee to process PayPal payments on top of the fees that you pay to PayPal. We don’t charge a fee with our other payment partners because they are willing to give us a volume-based discount. As always you have the option to simply include a PayPal link in the email or use our other partners, but now you have the option to integrate PayPal directly.
