I went into Koa on Monday the 19th of November for a color correction appointment. I contacted the salon through yelp and the salon manager was quick to pass me off to one of her "stylists" while ignoring the few questions I had , I should have taken this as a warning sign but I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt as I understand that people get busy, when I was scheduling the appointment with Nikki she said that she would be able to style my hair from 1:30-5, I scheduled the appointment and she asked if I could arrive any earlier. I said that I could try but it would only be by 10-15 minutes because I'm coming from work. When I'm 2 minutes away from arriving I get a text from Nikki saying she will be ten minutes late. I had no response to that because I felt it was completely unacceptable and I was already committed bc I was arriving to the salon early as she had requested. When I walked in the door of Koa Fearless Beauty I was greeted by a sad dying plant, grimy tables stored next to the wall, curtains covering a messy storage area and across from that a disgusting messy door covered in dye and dirt. I instantly felt uncomfortable, but with thanksgiving on Thursday and my work schedule this was the only time I had to get my hair fixed before the holiday. When I got past the hallway the rest of the salon was fine, lots of plants and other cheap decor. I was asked for my name at the desk and she said that I should have a seat and niki would be with me shortly. this was at 1:15. I was sitting for over half an hour before I decided to try to strike up a conversation with the salon manager about what would be best for my hair and she wouldn't give me any advice or definite answers, and ignored me and passed me off again while I was trying ask questions, knowing full well she could have given the girl some advice considering she was teaching another person later on. Finally around 2 niki decided to start to helping me with my hair. When I contacted the salon, I told them that a hairstylist previously damaged my hair with bleach and that it wasn't in the best condition. I knew how damaged my hair was and I communicated that over yelp messaging and text. Niki got me into her chair and was continuously judgmental and rude making snide comments here or there about my hair being so patchy and dry, I already knew and I was there for their help. I really didn't need my confidence undermined for 5 hours. I told her about the products and process my hair went through and she basically said that she didn't have a plan and was going to try a few different things. after she applied hair stripper, and bleached my hair twice over the course of 3 hours she finally admitted she couldn't fix the color and if she attempted that it would come out brown and patchy, I was appalled and holding back tears bc at this point she had been lying to me for hours and damaged my hair even more! She cut all my length off to make it easier for herself to color my hair and it looks nothing like I asked her to do, and didn't even color it! I was upset but still respectful and asked that she just finish the cut and let me leave. This girl was a mess, she attempted to give me "layers" and "texture" like I asked but she kept blaming the shitty cut on the texture of my hair and not her clear lack of skill as a stylist. My hair is currently uneven, an even worse version of the color I had previously bc they took color out of one side thoroughly and had another careless stylist do the other half of my hair. Then as she was continuing with her hack job she actually cut herself!! she cooly played off her carelessness and told me to "check out my hair" while she ran to the back again. this is when I really got upset bc I was sitting there for a while, left to stare at this awful haircut. when she came back she saw I was visibly upset and asked if I was okay and I said no and expressed my dissatisfaction that I had held back for the past 4 hours, THATS WHEN SHE THEW HER HAND IS THE AIR AND SAID "I CANT DO THIS IM DONE" so that's when I was over it too, and I got up and left her chair as she an her girlfriend blamed the whole situation on me instead of their dishonesty and carelessness and lack of professionalism. I tried to talk to the manger again but was only bullied and talked over and yelled at by the two, she was no help and clearly doesn't care about her staff or customers if she's willing to overbook her people and yell at their customers after ruining their look. Overall I just wanted to post this to warn other the other women they will tear down and lie to, I sincerely hope anyone considering Koa Carless Beauty will read this and avoid them like the plague, I swear a Supercuts would have been a better option than this mess of a salon. Save yourself some time and money and find a better Salon!
