We felt that this restaurant is a poor man's version of Lost 40 in Little Rock. The atmosphere was cool, very nice and open with nice lighting. It was not too loud so you could engage in conversation. But we should have known that prime time on a saturday night, with lots of tables available that something was amiss.
First of all, the were out of half of the beer selection mentioned on their beer menu. The honeybird ale was tasty and not quite as strong as Lost 40 love honey.
We were intrigued with the menu concepts, however the delivery and execution fell flat. We tried the duck confit nachos pickle plate, nashville hot chicken and waffles, tofu bahn mi and that bratwurst. All were disappointed with the exception of the duck nachos and the pickle plate. Portions are smaller than what you'd expect, especially with the bratwurst (it was served in a regular sized hot-dog bun). As one of two vegetarian options, the bahn mi was simply a tofu block, marinated in soy sauce and heated up. If you want a good bahn mi, go to The Root and nowhere else in town. The hot chicken and waffles was neither hot or sweet. The pimento cheese waffles (great idea, again with poor execution) were boring.
The service was great and the price was lower than what we were expecting. However, Lost 40 still wins for brewery and food in Little Rock.
