i purchased my wedding gown from this bridal salon and couldn't be happier with my gown. note that this is a little salon in a shopping center located in a mostly business area of sunnyvale. parking is plentiful in this shopping center, esp on the weekends when this area is pretty deserted. also the selection of designers is smaller than most salons. i worked almost exclusively with cheri, the manager of this store. as a picky bride who demands perfection, i had a really tough time choosing a wedding gown. unfortunately, the more dresses i tried on, the harder it became to choose just 1. once i had narrowed it down to 2-3 dresses, i took photos of these dresses and compared them side-by-side before i was able to choose "the one." unfortunately, by the time i made the decision to commit to a dress (about 5 months before my wedding date), i was told that it would be delivered about 2 weeks before my wedding, which was simply not enough time for dress alterations to be done. cheri called the manufacturer and checked to see if it was possible to expedite/rush deliver the dress, but unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate the request for this specific designer & dress. i was kicking myself for not making a decision and the commitment sooner, as i would have been able to get the dress of my dreams sooner, with ample time for alterations. i did check with other bay area salons to see if any of them could order the dress i wanted (and have it delivered well in advance of the wedding), but unfortunately, was given the same delivery date from all of them....about 2 weeks before my wedding date. i even checked with seamstresses and tailors to see if i could have the dress made from scratch (as a copy), i even checked with recommendations from friends & family from out of town. during this time, i actually needed to submit my dress measurements, and asked cheri if she could assist me with this, and she gladly obliged. extra points for this, since she was helping me get measured for a custom dress that would be made elsewhere. i don't know if another store would have helped me with something that wasn't contributing to their own business. unfortunately, i was unsuccessful in having a custom dress made. with only a few months left before the wedding, i called cheri, and asked if she had anything on sample sale that i could buy off the rack, or any other non-sample gowns that she'd let me have. i was in luck, as this was the week of thanksgiving, and she was just starting to discount her dresses for black friday. she also received a new shipment of dresses not long ago. from this new shipment, i actually found a new dress that i loved, and i think this really became the dress of my dreams b/c i felt glowing and fabulous in it....i almost cried when she clamped me in and put the veil on. on top of finding the 2nd "one," cheri called the manufacturer and it turned out that they had this dress in my size, and could send it to the store in 1-2 weeks, which would still give me plenty of time to have alterations made. i was ecstatic that i found a dress i loved, could have it brand new in my size, and got it on a discount (i saved almost $100 thanks to the black friday discount). true to her word, cheri called me about 10 days later to say that my dress had arrived. when i went to the store to try it on, it was almost perfect...a few alterations would do the trick, and i was confident that i had plenty of time to have it fixed up. since they don't do alterations in house, cheri recommended a local seamstress whom she sent all of her brides to, and even gave me a rough estimate of how much i'd be paying for the alterations. BONUS: if you buy a dress here, you get a veil for free, which is great since veils can cost upward of $300, depending on how intricate the design. since i already had a veil, cheri gave me a choice of an accessory, so i was able to have a matching necklace & earrings set to go with my dress. after the alterations were complete, cheri even steamed my dress for me, again this is something that costs $$ depending on where you go. i thoroughly enjoyed working with cheri, and she became my friend and confidante during my dress shopping experience. she was kind, patient, and really knew her gowns. since they don't work on commission here, cheri and her staff never pushed me to make a purchase so i felt free to say yes or no without being coerced one way or another. i highly recommend this salon to all future brides. ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES: once you find the one (or two you like), stop shopping and trying on dresses, and make a decision esp since it takes 4-6 months to order and have your dress shipped (sometimes longer). trying on too many pretty dresses will just confuse you and make life difficult!
