When you create an invoice in ZipBooks, the due date is recorded as the date it was created, unless you specify otherwise, since we assume you like to receive payment upon receipt of the invoice.

Here’s how to specify a due date:

  1. Sign in to ZipBooks and select Invoices.

  2. Create an invoice or select an existing invoice and click Edit.

  3. Toward the top right, type in the yellow Due line. You can select a date on the calendar or type in the due date manually.

  4. Click Save.

That’s it! Now ZipBooks will pick up on the new due date. If you’ve added a payment reminder to that customer, the date that reminder goes out will change based on the due date you added.

Pro Tip: If you have a standard payment period for customers, you can include it in your default terms (Under Account>Preferences>Invoice & Estimate Preferences) and ZipBooks will automatically generate the due date for you. Same goes if you include the term “Net” followed by a number of days in the Terms box (i.e. Net 30).
